SSL Certificates

Primarily used for e-commerce web sites, SSL certificates encrypt data sent over the Internet between a client and the server. Commonly used to secure credit card transactions from eavesdropping the same technology can also encrypt the sending and receiving of email.

We offer a Shared SSL Certificate as standard on all hosting plans that you can use for free and we sell Dedicated SSL certificates as an optional extra.

  • Shared SSL Certificates Shared SSL Certificates Each one of our servers has an SSL certificate which we share free of charge with you. This enables you to securely login to your cPanel, check your Webmail, configure encrypted access via a mail client such as Thunderbird or Outlook and leverage the encryption key for e-commerce transactions.

Shared SSL has one aesthetic drawback; the URL displayed in the browser doesn't match your domain. If you're planning on conducting e-commerce or perhaps have clients that need to enter personal information and you want them to see your company URL in the address bar instead of a server name then you'll need a Dedicated SSL Certificate.
  • Dedicated SSL Certificates Dedicated SSL Certificates Dedicated SSL certificates provide 128 bit security and has been shown to increase buyer confidence. A unique IP address is a pre-requisite for your own SSL certificate and both will be setup on the same day of purchase. Our SSL certificates are compatible with 99% of browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera. Once installed, browsers to your web site will see the padlock icon in the bottom corner of their web browser and the protocol of the domain will be https:// as opposed to http://. These are signs that a site is secure and internet shoppers are often advised to ensure any transaction based web site exhibits them before placing an order.
